What is Emergency Ultrasound?
Emergency Ultrasound is the bedside use of targeted ultrasound
imaging by the clinician caring for the patient to answer
specific clinical questions. Emergency Ultrasound protocols
are limited compared to comprehensive ultrasounds protocols.
For example, a comprehensive cardiac ultrasound will evaluate
the heart for a large number of possible defects whereas
an emergency cardiac ultrasound during a cardiac arrest
will determine if the heart is beating or not.
